Five best beaches in Sri Lanka

1. Unawatuna

A pretty little horseshoe beach backed by one of Sri Lanka’s most enjoyable villages.

2. Bentota and Induruwa

One of the finest stretches of beach on the west coast, running south from the magnificent Bentota lagoon and lined with a string of alluring hotels.

3. Arugam Bay

Famous for its surf, this remote beach and village in the far east also has bags of laid-back charm and a number of interesting sights nearby.

4. Mirissa

One of the south coast’s most intimate beaches, with a picture-perfect arc of sand screened by toppling palms – and a great place to go whale-watching too.

5. Uppuveli

Proximity to the former war zone means that this superb swathe of sand remains remarkably sleepy and undeveloped – visit now before it all changes.

Sri Lanka- Heritage


Sri Lanka, the natures treasure chest is the home to one of the oldest civilizations in the world. Sri Lanka’s written history exceeds 2550 years.Of all the ancient cities of Lanka, the most famed and most exquisite is the Kingdom of Anuradhapura. Sri Lanka’s third and the longest serving capital and one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world is also one of the most sacred cities of World Buddhists. It was the capital of Sri Lanka from the Fourth Century BC up to the turn of the eleventh Century and was one of the most stable and durable centers of political power and urban life in South Asia.
Sigiriya, a fifth century AD fortress and a water garden displays some of the most futuristic elements of landscaping and some of the oldest murals recorded in the country.
Polonnaruwa, the second most ancient kingdom of the country boasts of Irrigation systems that are far superior to those of the and they still provide irrigation water to the farmers in and around Polonnaruwa. Digamadulla, the Eastern kingdom of Sri Lanka was the agricultural and spiritual capital of the country during the Anuradhapura kingdom.
Sri Lanka’s last kingdom, the Kingdom of Kandy was an independent monarchy, located in the central and eastern portion of the island. The Kandyan Kingdom still holds beautifully carved and built houses, palaces and temple preserved for nearly 500 years.



Wildlife in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is one of the finest wildlife watching countries in South Asia and ranked amongst the world’s twenty five biodiversity hot spots. As a country with high rate of endemism  it has many faunal groups  including birds , mammals , reptiles and amphibians which you can not find anywhere in the world. It is world  renowned  as one of the best places to watch elephants and leopards for  nature enthusiastic and photographers. There   are season for elephant gathering  where  large concentration of wild elephants  together can be seen during that time at a place known as  Minneriya in the north central province of the country. Primate safaris  are arranged with cultural tours as it is possible to find wide range of primates in place surrounded by cultural heritages mainly in the dry zone. During the early part of the year  ( January-April) , the largest animal ever lived   in the world  you may guess as ‘ blue whale’  can be seen in off shores of southern city Galle. Sinharaja, the tropical rainforest of the country is the place to glue one’s eyes on to the  world’s largest mixed species ofbirds flocking together.
